Mission and Values
Panhandle gymnastics was founded on the belief that athletics should be used as a foundation to teach children fundamental life skills. We value these skills, which include:
The power of failure
The joy of success
We believe these skills are necessary for children to succeed on any avenue they choose as they grow. Our mission is to make sure our gymnastics program supports all of our athletes in the way that benefits them the most; whether the athlete needs to gain strength and flexibility to help them excel in any sport, wants to learn recreational skills, or is hoping to compete on a USAG team. Panhandle Gymnastics believes in supporting families and the community as together we raise children to become successful adults.
Play and learn with your little one as they begin to explore all the amazing things their body can do. This course will cover falling "safely", rolls and tiny tumbles, and basic gymnastics body positions and movements. Parental/Caregiver assistance is required.
As they grow and develop their motor skills this course will give preschoolers a chance to try both women’s and men’s gymnastics events by teaching very basic body position progressions, and body movements. Preschoolers will explore different muscle groups that gymnasts frequently use, while playing games and learning new skills.
GIRLS LEVEL ONE AND TWO
This one hour course will cover USAG Level One and Two required skills on all four apparatus including Floor, Beam, Bars, and Vault in Women’s Artistic Gymnastics. Athletes will learn basic gymnastics body positions and how to implement them into their skill sets. USAG Level One and Two routines will be introduced.
GIRLS LEVEL THREE, FOUR, AND FIVE
Through this two hour course athletes will learn the skill sets and be introduced to the USAG routines within the level they are placed. Stretching, strengthening, and conditioning will be a required part of each class, in addition to equal time spent on all four events. Athletes will set goals to develop their skills, gain self-confidence and self-esteem, while improving fitness and realizing their full potential.
Any gymnast currently enrolled in a class, who is consistently performing tricks within their level is eligible for our performance team. Athletes must commit to performing in 80% of scheduled performances/ community events and attend the necessary practices prior to performances.
GIRLS COMPETITION TEAM
In addition to their regular scheduled level one, two, three, four, or five classes, athletes will have access to the gym during any other regular two hour class, as well as “Open Gym” Saturdays. Emphasis during these extra sessions will be placed on learning USAG routines, as well as training for competitions.
Coaches will teach a combination of challenging martial arts, parkour and gymnastics skills to athletes, while instilling values such as focused energy, work ethic, and self responsibility. As little Ninjas gain agility, strength, balance and coordination they will test out to new levels with bigger challenges and more difficult skills.
Boys will have the opportunity to expend their energy by tumbling, jumping, and swinging in a safe environment during this one hour course. This course will explore the six men’s gymnastics events (including floor exercise, pommel horse, still rings, vault, parallel bars, and horizontal bar) while athletes learn new skills, gain confidence, and grow their physical capabilities.
Through this 90 minute course athletes will be able to explore their own personal interests within the sport of gymnastics. Whether they wish to gain strength and flexibility, learn a back flip, or dig deeper into the world of USAG men’s artistic gymnastics, they will be safely coached and guided to reach their goals.
